Patricia Cardona

Patricia Cardona is a senior at North Salem High School (2008) where she is a student leader in both the music and Army JROTC Programs. Her family moved to Salem, Oregon in 2005 from Honolulu, Hawaii when her father retired from the Navy.

Among her accomplishments, Patricia was selected by OAAE for consideration to participate in the JFK Center/National Symphony Orchestra National Trustees’ Summer Music Institute (2008), is one of the top 5 semi-finalists in the Banddirector.com Brio Flute Competition, made the list to perform on NPRs FromTheTop radio program pending programming decisions, and is the OMTA/MTNA NW Division Senior Woodwind Competition alternate to compete in the national competition. Patricia has also placed first and second at OSAA State Solo/Ensemble, was two-time OMEA District 4 Champion, and has been principal flute/piccolo for Salem Youth Symphony, City, State, and NW honor bands. She has also won the opportunity to solo with the Salem Chamber Orchestra and the Salem Youth Symphony, was a finalist in the MetroArts Young Artist Debut Concerto Competition, and others.

 

Patricia has performed in master classes for Michel Debost, Jill Felber, Walfrid Kujala, Mary Karen Clardy, Nancy Andrew, Zart Dombourian-Eby, and participated in master classes with Sir James Galway, Sir William Bennett, Robert Dick and others. Patricia studies flute under local artist Sandy Duffy-Norman of RoseWynde Flute and Harp Duo and plans to pursue a degree in music performance.
